Yesterday arrived my Pokemon Omega Ruby Steelbook Edition. And right after my stream ended, I started playing and playing and playing Pokemon Omega Ruby the whole evening. Pokemon was able to catch me again. It's not that different from the older Pokemon games, except the graphics. Like in Pokemon X/Y the new Pokemon has fancy 3D graphics, which make me want to explore the Hoenn region even more.
My first hour with Pokemon Omega Ruby
Everything starts with a strange conversation with Prof. Birch, I don't know I really think the Pokemon professors need some glasses. Not seeing if you are a boy or a girl. This time you can't customize your character. I don't miss the feature but would like to have it anyway, I just really like customizing my own character. Soon after telling Prof. Birch our name we arrive at our new home, where our mother is already waiting for us.
After setting the clock in hour room, mother is sending us to Prof. Birch while looking for him we go to the neighbours house where we meet his son. After meeting him we can go north, where we meet Prof. Birch, who is in trouble. He is beeing attacked by a Pokemon. His bag with the Pokeballs is too far away, so it is our turn to choose a Pokemon and help Prof. Birch.
After the fight we meet Prof. Birch and his son in the Pokemon Lab, where we get a Pokedex and the chosen Pokemon. We make our way north. Leveling our Pokemon and arriving at the first bigger town, Oldale Town, where we get some Potions and a bit later some Pokeballs. Continuing our way we learn how to sneak to Pokemon, who are hiding in the high grass and how to use our PokeNav.
On the way to the second town, we have to battle two trainers. I have to say, that the fight animations look really good, in my opinion even a little bit better than in Pokemon X/Y. Arriving in the second town, Petalburg City, we meet our father who is the gym leader. After a little talk we have to help a guy named Wally getting his first Pokemon. A tutorial on how to catch Pokemon. We don't have much to do in the town, so we can just continue our way. In the Petalburg Woods we already get the Exp.Share, which is pretty handy and really reduces the Pokemon level grinding.
That was already my first hour of Pokemon, I didn't came that far, due to heavy early leveling of my Pokemon.
Things I already really like about the new Pokemon game:
- Graphics - pretty and fancy, make me want to explore the world even more -
- PokeNav - really handy map with hidden Pokemon Radar -
- Sneaking - Sneaking through high grass, reduces to chance of getting attacked -
- Fights - cool fighting animations -
- Exp.Share - very handy -
Things I don't like about the new Pokemon game:
- Nothing
Things I'm looking forward to:
- Gyms - In Pokemon X/Y the gyms were so well designed with little puzzles, can't wait to explore the gyms in Pokemon Omega Ruby
- Flying - Beeing able to manually control where to fly and not just only teleport somewhere when using "fly"
- Secret Base - Getting my own secret base, how couldn't I look forward to it.
I will get back to play Pokemon now and recommend this Pokemon game for every Pokemon fan.
